Visitor Pledge

As a visitor to Fiji, I understand that I am entering a living heritage — the Vanua (land, sea, and people as one — na Vanua e dua ga na bula kei na tamata). I pledge to act with respect and care by agreeing to the following:

1. Respect the Reef: Never touch or step on coral, collect shells, or disturb marine life — unless under authorised supervision for recognized educational or scientific purposes.

2. Be Ocean Kind: Use reef-safe sunscreen and avoid littering — everything I bring, I take back.

3. Listen and Learn: Value the wisdom and customs shared by Fijian hosts and communities.

4. Support Local: Choose local guides, crafts, and foods to help sustain livelihoods and culture.

5. Ask Before Acting: Seek permission before entering villages, taking photos, or engaging in traditional spaces.

6. Protect Marine Life: Never chase, feed, or touch wildlife — observe from a respectful distance, unless guided for scientific or educational documentation with proper consent.

7. Conserve Water and Energy: Use resources mindfully, remembering they are shared and precious.

8. Celebrate Culture Respectfully: Dress modestly in villages, participate with humility, and honour Fijian traditions.

9. Be a Reef Ambassador: Share what I learn about Fiji’s marine and cultural heritage with others, encouraging protection.

10. Leave Only Good Footprints: Strive to ensure my time in Fiji leaves nature and community better, not burdened.
