Operator Pledge
As an operator within Fiji’s Vanua, I acknowledge that the reef, ocean, and communities are living systems — interconnected, sacred, and essential to life. I commit to the following principles in all my operations:
1. Guardianship of the Reef and Ocean: Operate sustainably to protect coral reefs, marine life, and ocean health for present and future generations.
2. Zero Harm Practices: Prevent pollution, anchor damage, waste discharge, and other harmful impacts on marine or coastal environments.
3. Respect for Traditional Knowledge and Rights: Engage with local communities, landowners, and traditional leaders (vanua and qoliqoli custodians) in a spirit of partnership and respect.
4. Community Benefit and Empowerment: Ensure that local communities benefit fairly through employment, sourcing, and shared opportunities.
5. Cultural Integrity: Honour Fijian customs, sacred sites, and cultural expressions, ensuring all guests and staff understand their significance.
6. Transparency and Accountability: Operate with honesty, integrity, and compliance with all national and local environmental regulations.
7. Education and Awareness: Inform and inspire guests, staff, and partners to become active guardians of Fiji’s natural and cultural heritage.
8. Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and enhance environmental and cultural practices in line with evolving standards and community feedback.
9. Collaboration and Shared Stewardship: Work collectively with other operators, communities, and government to strengthen the protection of our shared marine ecosystems.
10. Legacy of Respect: Ensure that every operation leaves a positive trace — for the reef, the people, and the generations to come.
