About Reef Respect
Welcome to Reef Respect. Here you'll find everything about our mission, values, and commitment to protecting and preserving coral reefs around the world.
Reef Respect is a conservation initiative created by the Drawaqa Marine Conservation Trust to connect visitors with Fiji’s marine environment through education, immersive ocean experiences, and meaningful conservation engagement.
Through guided Reef Respect water experiences, daily activities, and guest interactions, visitors are invited to explore Fiji’s reefs responsibly while learning about marine ecosystems, local culture, the challenges facing the ocean today. These experiences are designed to inspire wonder while building awareness, participation, and deeper connection with the reef and the communities that protect it.
Our commitment is to deliver experiences that minimise environmental impact, encourage responsible visitor behaviour, and support ongoing conservation and education initiatives. We are dedicated to working alongside local communities, marine educators, scientists, and conservation partners to help protect and preserve Fiji’s reefs through practical action, awareness, and collaboration.
Reef Respect also represents a commitment to continuous improvement. We strive to strengthen environmental practices, support community-led conservation efforts, and ensure that tourism contributes positively to both people and the environment.
Above all, we believe tourism should leave a positive impact. Through Reef Respect, we aim to create experiences that not only showcase the beauty of Fiji’s reefs, but also encourage greater appreciation, understanding, and long-term stewardship of the ocean.
We recognise that healthy reefs and healthy communities are deeply connected. Every Reef Respect experience is designed to promote safe, respectful, and environmentally conscious interaction with the ocean while supporting the long-term sustainability of Fiji’s marine ecosystems.
At its core, Reef Respect transforms guests from passive visitors into active guardians of the reef. The initiative is built around a simple idea: People protect what they understand, experience, and feel connected to.
